中国薏仁米种植历史悠久。从薏仁米的种类多样和野生种分布密度来分析，贵州、云南、广西等为我国薏仁米种植的中心地区，而长江中下游及北方各省（区），则是薏仁米逐步北移、驯化、选择而形成的次生中心。目前，薏仁米种植在全国分布广泛。其中，主要有四大核心产区：以兴仁县为核心的贵州薏仁米产区，以师宗县为核心的云南薏仁米产区，以西林县为核心的广西薏仁米产区，以蒲城县为核心的福建薏仁米产区。据调查统计，2017年全国薏仁米主产区种植面积分别为：贵州77万亩，云南16万亩，广西3万亩，福建6万亩，其他产区约3万亩。从产量来看，贵州薏仁米种植标准化水平较高，平均亩产在300公斤左右，其他地区亩产多在250公斤左右，东南亚各国亩产多在200公斤以内。全国薏仁米加工企业经工商注册的有500多家，从分布来看，80%以上在贵州兴仁县。全国薏仁米产品以加工米为主，近年来薏粉、薏汁、薏面、薏酒、薏酱、薏醋、薏烤芙等新产品不断推出，薏仁米药用食用的市场不断扩大，薏仁米产业呈现业态多元化的迅速发展趋势。

Coix seed industry in China has a long history. The southwestern provinces like Guizhou，Yunnan and Guangxi are the central areas for coix seed growing according to the diversity and the distribution density of wild species. And the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River and the northern areas are the secondary centers by the gradual northward movement，domestication and selection of coix seed.

At present，the cultivation of coix seed is widely distributed throughout the country，among which there are four core production areas：Guizhou coix seed production area with the Xingren County as the core，Yunnan with Shizong County as the core，Guangxi with Xilin County as the core and Fujian with Pucheng County as the core. According to the survey statistics，the planting areas of the main production areas in the country in 2017 are as follows：770，000 mu（515.9 Square kilometers）in Guizhou，160，000 mu（107.2 Square kilometers）in Yunnan，30，000 mu（20.1 Square kilometers）in Guangxi，60，000 mu（40.2 Square kilometers）in Fujian，and about 30，000 mu（20.1 Square kilometers）in other production areas. The average coix seed output per mu（1/1500 Square kilometers）in Guizhou is about 300 kilograms，and other areas are about 250 kilograms，and the output per mu in most countries in Southeast Asia is below 200 kilograms. The above numbers indicate that Guizhou has a higher coix seed planting standardization. More than 500 coix seed processing enterprises have been registered，over 80% of which are in Xingren County of Guizhou province. National coix seed products are mainly the processing of coix seeds kernel. Some new products such as coix powder，coix juice，coix noodles，coix wine，coix sauce，coix vinegar have been developed in recent years. The market of medicinal consumption of coix seeds continues to expand，and the coix seed industry shows a trend of diversified development and has been developed rapidly.
