With the integration of the world economy，the safety of personal information has become an important balancing factor in international exchanges. This article introduces the background and basic working mechanism of the personal information protection assessment system，the relationship between the system and the administration mechanism，and on-going and future research projects in this field，and puts forward some proposals on the improvement of this system.
