The people who are over 60 years old in China have reached 1.6 million which is 12.5% of the total population.The total amount of the older population will exceed 2 billion.Population ageing in China has become a hot issue of concern.Protection of the rights of older people is an important part of the human rights protection,which is important for a harmonious socialist society.This paper defines the concept of older persons and the rights of the elderly,studies the legal provisions and protection on the rights of older persons in china,and outlines the achievement and progress in safeguarding the rights of the elderly,studies comparably abroad in the protection of the rights of older persons with valuable experience,and proposes to improve the legal system and to strengthen the protection of the rights of older persons. <<
