The villages within Guangzhou Municipality feature a large number，broad distribution scope，and high building density，great number of buildings constructed without license and tremendous non-native population，so the renovation task is arduous. This paper introduces the historical renovation progress of villages within Guangzhou Municipality，identifies the existing problems and defects，and provides specific countermeasures and advices for expediting the renovation of villages within Guangzhou Municipality in such aspects as formulation of supporting policies，implementation of approval procedures，innovation of work mechanism，etc.
