For a long time vocational education in China has been plagued by the following defects：vocational education suffers from a stereotyped，nationally unified pattern；formal VE programs have been overemphasized to the detriment of non-formal ones. Thus，the development of vocational education is divorced from the actual needs of society，and the autonomous development of VE has been seriously inhibited，creating adverse impact on the quality of VE provided and reducing the attractiveness of VE. Bainian Vocational School，through its unique features of VE provision and practices in education and instruction，has drawn general recognition by the public，and provides useful experiences to be borrowed by other reformers of VE and is a good example of diversification of VE.
