This article intends to examine the main problems faced by the teaching of curricular materials with local color in Guizhou province through a collection of evidences by field research. It is found that the main problems include the following：severe shortage of funds，lack of qualified teachers，shortage of teaching materials，irrational arrangement of curriculum，and narrow scope of such teaching；and the measures to be taken to tackle them are suggested as follows：instituting a sound policy concerning such education，taking an integrated approach to the compilation and utilization of relevant teaching materials，increasing the level of funding，encouraging the contribution of funds by concerned members of society and setting relevant norms and standards for such activities，improving the mechanisms used in assessment，upgrading the professional level of the teaching corps.
