While making great progress in implementing the strategy of "going global", China is faced with serious challenges to the security of its overseas assets and the protection of Chinese personnel and assets overseas has become a major issue urgently to be dealt with by the Chinese government. Therefore, China should, in light of the continuously evolving international situation, abandon the traditional conservative mode of thinking, fully utilize the various rights a sovereign state enjoys under contemporary rules of international law, and take all necessary measures permitted by international law to strengthen the protection of overseas Chinese personnel and assets. <<
