Parents’ occupational expectation to children not only reflects the occupational preference of social members and social stratification，but also has an impact on children’s occupational development in their future. Based on the data of a national-level sampling statistics，the paper describes the occupational expectation of Chinese parents to their children. The finding shows that most parents start to plan for children’s occupational development from their early stage. Most parents prefer professional，stable and highly prestigious occupations. Parents’ expectation is influenced by the gender and school performance of their children，and also by parents’ own social-economic status.
