The diversification of the geopolitical situation concerning the global energy propels many countries to put safeguarding energy security on the top of one's strategic priorities for economic development. Strengthening cooperation in the energy sector is greatly meaningful for SCO countries to develop their national economies, and also has a significant bearing on the energy security of the region and the entire world. The cooperation in energy sector should have been the most important and promising area of cooperation and the focal point of economic and commercial interaction within the SCO framework, while in reality some projects of energy cooperation and their collective cooperation mechanism relatively lag behind. In light of this situation, this thesis analyzes the realities and problems of SCO cooperation in energy sector in the year to date, and makes some suggestions accordingly.
