There was a political turmoil in Kyrgyzstan in 2012 and the government was replaced. Since then the political situation there is generally stable, and the new government put forward its sustained development strategy which showed economic development has gradually come to occupy an important position in the social agenda of the country. In the background of overall economic slide of 2012, some sectors have displayed signs of healthy growth. Also in 2012, Kyrgyzstan became the rotational chairman of SCO member states and has successfully held the meeting of SCO Prime Minister Council, and is poised to hold the head summit of SCO in 2013 by which Kyrgyzstan expects to promote pragmatic cooperation within the SCO framework, implement a large number of projects, and lift the levels of its own economic and social development.
