In terms of the overall situation, and against the backdrop of the impact of the financial crisis, there has been no change in the trend whereby the power of the United States and the other developed Western countries is declining and the status and influence of the emerging countries is rising.More countries are exerting an influence in international affairs, but no single country on its own can play a leading role.Participation in multilateral diplomacy and international mechanisms to resolve global problems has become the preferred option of many countries,as various powers in varying combinations are promoting international agendas. From a geopolitical perspective, the Asia-Pacific region has become the focus of global politics. In this respect, there are three main issues:First, the United States has implemented a strategy to "rebalance" the Asia-Pacific region;with its growing strength China has stepped up efforts to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and to play an increased role in international affairs;and various international mechanisms are playing a more important role.
