In the past year, the changes in the power configuration in Asia-Pacific region, the influences brought by the deepening financial crisis,as well as the reinforcement of the unceasing U.S."return to Asia" strategy constitute three main factors to analyze and judge China's border security situation.Overall, although China's periphery environment remains relatively stable and maintaining normal relations and cooperation is still the mainstream trend between China and its neighbors, the challenges faced by China to maintain its border security and stability have increased. In this context, territorial sovereignty and maritime rights disputes between China and its neighboring countries are increasingly grim. The military pressures China faces from the surrounding areas continue to increase. In addition, some sensitive issues, such as the problem in the Korean peninsula,Japan's move to the political right, and the complex security situation in Central Asia, remain to be resolved and also pose challenges to China in terms of maintaining its border security. In short, some traditional and non-traditional security risks have increased tensions and uncertainties in China's surrounding environment.
