In recent years,in order to gain more political and economic interests by signing the China-South Korea Free Trade Agreement,South Korea has mobilized major industrial groups including South Korea Institute of International Trade,KIET,KIEP,Research Institute for Economic,KMI (Korea Maritime Institute),SERI (Samsung Economic Research Institute),government departments and relevant research institutions to carry out extensive and intensive investigation and research.By synthesizing the research reports prepared by these institutions,the main goals pursued by South Korea in signing the China-South Korea Free Trade Agreement are:strive to take up an advantageous position in international trade;seek maximum economic interest in Chinese market;try to play a leading role in East Asian Free Trade Area;compete for the dominant right in Korean Peninsular by relying on the two powers:China and the United States.In order to achieve the above goals,these research institutions put forward a series of proposals and counter-measures,including:seize the right time for starting the negotiation;adopt the mode of blanket agreement;strategically utilize negotiation and agreement;increase the export of high value-added products by aiming at Chinese domestic demand market;guard against Chinese-type trade protectionism;implement agricultural structure adjustment suitable for free trade era;accurately grasp the allowance and tolerance standard on the tariff for industrial products;persuade China to make explicit statement in the free trade agreement text about the issue of removing non-tariff barriers. <<
