In October 2012, Hugo Chavez was re-elected as President of Venezuela and could be in power for next six years. His deteriorated health and following death caused political uncertainties in the future. With the increase in public spending, Venezuela has gained a higher growth of 5.3% in 2012, but still faces many problems, such as currency devaluation, high inflation and unemployment. In order to consolidate ruling base, the Venezuelan government has paid much attention to protection of workers' rights, expansion of social investment and construction of a multi-polar world as an important foreign policy goal.
