President Otto Pérez Molina gave priority to building democratic and approachable public management. The new government put forward three strategic contracts: solving poverty and hunger issues; protecting the safety of lives and property of all Guatemalans; creating new jobs and strengthening the public finance. In the international arena, the decriminalizing drugs issue has attracted much attention. Taking the above-mentioned initiatives as clues, this paper will assess the performance of the new government in 2012. <<
