After 2012 American presidential election, the re-elected President Barack Obama will be confronted by great number of challenges in terms of both domestic and foreign affairs. A greatly polarized society and the persistent wrangling between the two parties in Congress would gravely block the efforts of Obama to fulfill his unfinished policy objectives in the second term, including carrying out the medical care reform in details, promoting the clean energy to moderate climate change, and working out a new immigration law through the Congress. For foreign policy, the Obama administration has shown a willingness to continue the "rebalancing" strategy towards Asia, whereas two problems would confront Obama in this process. Firstly, it's quite challenging to make a delicate balance between China and its traditional allies; Secondly, the still worsening situation in Middle East would inevitably hold back the strategic adjustment. Some signals show that due to military cuts and regional security factors, the shape and contents of" the rebalancing policy" could be changed in some way.
