The Tea Party movement burst onto the scene in February 2009,with several members successfully elected Representatives and Senators in the 2010 mid-term elections. The movement attracted millions of supporters and drew great attention from the US and the whole world. But current researches about the Tea Party possess the following characteristics: facts more than theories, impacts more than reasons, media perspective more than political perspective, study abroad more than domestic research, especially tend to consider the reasons as the immediate reaction of disappointment to US government. The Tea Party movement is a new social movement in the United States, and its emergence and development are based on a profound social, political and economic background, including the impact of the U.S.financial crisis, the stimulus of the information age,and American open political system and so on. However, the reasons also determine the Tea Party movement can only be a social movement, which is impossible to grow into an independent political party.
