The research team on "America in the Eyes of Ordinary Chinese" had taken sample surveys on the Unites States and the China-US relations in 8 cities around China from August to October,2011. The survey indicates that internet, television and movies, newspapers and magazines are three major sources from which the Chinese public learns about the United States. Compared with past, internet is becoming more important. In the mind of respondents, the Statue of Liberty,or the White House,or the Wall Street,is the most selected as the representative of the U.S. image. This reflects the influence of American values, politics and economy. According to the respondents, economy and trade,Taiwan and energy are regarded as the most important field or issue in the future China-US relations. The interviewees have a high degree of consensus on the current situation and prospects of the China-US relations. In the meanwhile, they are fully knowledgeable on the international influences of the United States. In general, the views of the ordinary Chinese on the China-US relations are rational and not radical. The analysis of the data also leads to the conclusion that the factors such as the gender, age, education, geographical distribution, occupation and income do have cross impacts on the interviewees' views on the United States and China-US relations.
