China, Japan and South Korea are crucially important countries in Northeast Asia since their national energy development processes have become important contents of the region's of Northeast Asia. With the rapid economic growth, China has an increasing energy demand. Thus, how to guarantee the energy supply security has already been one of the energy development strategies to China. Besides, Japan and South Korea are scarce in gas and oil resources. And as a result, the consumption of oil and gas are almost entirely dependent on imports. Therefore, improving energy efficiency and energy saving are surely important parts of the development strategies. Compared with the stabile absolute and essential energy consumption, resulted from the basically completed development of industrialization in Japan and South Korea, China's energy consumption is still in the rising phase with characteristics of high proportion of coal consumption in the entire energy structure. Thus, optimizing energy structure, improving energy efficiency and reducing consumption are significant challenges to energy development in China. And this paper separately introduced energy development and its strategies in China, Japan and South Korea in recent years.
