Chinese petroleum professions and workers had ever conducted five explorations in Tarim basin from 1952 to 1981, but only discovered two medium and small oil fields due to the extreme harsh environmental conditions of the basin. The history was called "Five tries with five fails". In the mid of 1980's of 20th century,the Department of Petroleum organized the sixth explorations in Tarim Basin. Drillings and explorations were organized with operation models learnt from western oil companies and with modern and most advanced technologies of geophysical exploration,drilling,well testing as well as development and constructions,some important and great breakthroughs were acquired. The annual oil and gas production equivalent from Tarim Oilfield with only less than 10 thousand staffs and workers had reached 20 million tons (including yearly gas production capacity of 20 billion cubic meters) in 2008. The estimated annual production equivalent will reach as high as 30 million tons (including 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas) by the year of 2015. The West-East natural gas transmission project was completed and put into production in 2004, from which clean gas produced from Tarim Oilfield has been transported to 80 big and medium sized cities in 14 provinces (including directed governed cities) in the east and thus benefited people of whole China. Some 12 cities in 5 southern regions have already got fully supply of gas by the year of 2012, and gas supply facilities are under construction in 13 cities now.The clean energy,gas has been benefiting local people of all nationalities. <<
