In 2013, China's summer grain output reached 131.89 million tons, achieving an increase of 1.5% and 1.96 million tons compared with 2012. Moreover, overcoming the high temperatures and drought in the south and the floods in the north, autumn grain in most areas is growing normally. From the harvested situation, China's grain production will achieve growth for ten consecutive years. In 2013, the level of agricultural mechanization and large-scale livestock, and contribution rate of technological progress to agricultural growth improve continuously. The areas of land transferring, the total amounts of the rural labors transferring to urban further expand, and rural financial reform run deeply. Farmers' income and welfare increase continuously. Finally, the goal of agricultural modernization and challenges are discussed, and recommendations for promotimg agricultural modernization are proposed.
