This report reveals the satisfactoriness of the basic public service of major cities in China after an system assessment and comparative study of local public service situation in 38 major cities(including Municipalities Provincial Capitals Special Economic Zones and Cities Specifically Designated in the State Plan),by researching the changes of annual data between 2013 and 2012,in accordance with the evaluation index system of local government's ability of basic public service. A comparative analysis based on the assessment of the situation about the satisfactoriness of basic public services in different types of cities and different criteria is also included. From the overall,the evaluation score of Eastern cities on the satisfactoriness of basic public services are higher than that of the central and western cities,and there is still a lot of space for improvement on the public service work of four special economic zones. Large internal imbalance on public services exists among the four special economic zones. Indicator scores and the average satisfactoriness scores of cities specifically designated in the state plan is the highest among four types of cities which are involved with this assessment. <<
