This paper compares an analysis of the Sixth National Census data with that of the previous census and sample survey results and reveals changes in the migration pattern of female population though to a large extent，keeping the previous characteristics. First of all，the female migrant population has become diversified and can no longer be referred in all as working girls. Secondly，some of the female migrants’characteristics become similar to male migrants’，though there are still obvious differences，and these differences are mostly due to the different roles men and women play in their families. The changing trend of migration in female population and the changes in migrant women’s characteristics are closely related to the changes in China’s population structure and its socioeconomic development in the 21^st century.
