<<This paper examines gender differences in health outcomes among Chinese citizens in relation to self-reported health, mental health, and physical health and different health conditions among women of different groups and social standings based on the findings of the Third Survey on Women’s Social Status in China. The results show that men overall have better health than women do;and there is also a big difference in health conditions between women with vulnerable social status and women with favorable social status. This study also finds that while factors including occupation, income, education, and urban-rural divide have impacts on the health of both men and women, gender interacts with all these factors in creating subtle changes in gender differences in health conditions.
