This paper based on Michigan's Urban and Metropolitan Strategy,illustrated the new trends for the Michigan's metropolitan economic transformation. Michigan's metropolitan areas are particularly strong in critical elements,such as innovation,particularly in the manufacturing sector,for the next economy. The right strategy for Michigan is to integrate such elements in its cities,its metropolitan areas,and the state as a whole. To achieving the strategy,Michigan will strengthen the link between innovation and manufacturing to increase regional exports and attract global investments. Michigan will also support strong regional systems to train existing workers and welcome new ones to fuel economic growth. In addition,Michigan will make targeted investments that leverage distinct assets in urban and metropolitan areas to transform regional economies. <<
