This paper mainly based on the analysis of the McKinsey Global Institute's report:Urban world:Mapping the economic power of cities. It attempts to use a global view on the economic role of cities. The paper shows that 600 urban centers,with a fifth of the world's population,generate most part of global economic growth and capacity. With described of the trends of the shifting gravity of the global urban landscape,the population structure,social characters and driving forces of the 600 cities was investigated in this paper. <<
