<<In 2007 Latin American politics witnessed less “hot spots” as the region as a whole were undergoing relative stability, though in some countries there were political conflicts.Several medium-and-small-sized countries held presidential election, which produced no surprising outcome. The left-wing governments continued to seek new development paths, but those in Venezuela and Bolivia met with severe challenges in their efforts. In the near future attention needs to be given to:1) the prospects of the region’s political system, particularly those of the major countries;2) changes of policies and constitutional reforms in the countries under the left-wing government;and 3) the upcoming election in Cuba.
