In 2007 Latin America’s social development indicators continued to show improvement and social situations remain stable，though social conflict of low intensity took place from time to time and new factors of instability appeared in some countries.Most of the countries in the region made greater efforts to adjust and/or implement new social policies.International cooperation in the field of social development was reinforced.Moreover，the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean put forward the notion of social cohesion，which，according to the influential UN body，could resolve some of the social problems in the region.
