Latin American countries adopted the outward-oriented model in the 1980s.Under this model，economic growth was led by exports；opening to the outside world was greatly increased；and its position on the world economic stage was raised. At the same time，however，export promotion and inflow of foreign capital created some negative results and social development was neglected. China，whose economy is also outward-oriented，can draw some lessons from the Latin American experience.
