This paper tries to analyze the film The Seal of Love，with the purpose to reveal the dilemma of representing history in the context of contemporary China. This paper argues that the characters of The Seal of Love and the endless debates about the film are not only related to the peculiarities of the film，but also refer to some important factors which are far beyond the film itself. This situation involves the contemporary Chinese film production system capital operation mechanism，the embarrassing status of Qu Qiubai in the history of Chinese Communist Party，as well as the cultural logic of rewriting the revolutionary stories.
