In a broad sense，there are some spirituality-related researches or claims in traditional culture both of East and West，either directly or indirectly. However，the real concern for individual spirituality is a thing of recent theoretical studies. Such interest in individual spirituality is closely related to the New Age Movement，the fourth forces in psychology，the spirituality capital theory and the perspective of spirituality in social work. Theory of Spiritual Social Work，based on the rise of the perspective of spirituality in western social work theory，combined with traditional Chinese culture and current characteristics of rapid social transformation in China，is a theoretical adventure of academic endeavors. It can be understood from its conceptual and practical framework.
