Field practice is of great importance in social work education and is especially so in China’s local social work development. This paper is built on the intensive field education experience of the Social Work Programme at the Sun Yat-sen University，whose educational model is based on the belief that doing and critical reflection is the best site for learning. Experiential learning/reflective inquiry is extensively used with action research，integrated course/field education design，small group learning to create a unique learning experience for students. A two-way reflection model is also discussed with ample examples.
