German energy policy is in accordance with the characteristics of its own energy use and with the international energy market supply as well as climate protection issues.German energy policy saw profound changes in 2010/2011 with an "energy turn" decision that decided to phase out nuclear power. Moreover, the decision vigorously promotes renewable energy use and technological research, one of the priorities of the German energy policy. In addition to the EU energy policy,Germany's own environmental awareness and political decision-making characteristics influence significantly the German energy policy. The European debt crisis and the financial situation at this stage are becoming very important factors for the implementation and realization of the new German energy policy.Because of the direct relationship between energy use, supply and climate problems, the "energy turn" will influence the development of Germany and the EU climate policy in the future.
