<<After hundreds of years’ of spiritual and material construction of the so-called “land of opportunity” by the Americans, the “American Dream” is gradually formed, which is that in the United States,as long as one works hard, had some talent, one could succeed and look forward to a better future for oneself. However, the U.S. subprime mortgage crisis—the international financial crisis smashed the “American Dream”. The crisis transformed the “subprime mortgage capital” of Cleveland from the “most suitable for living ” to the “most miserable city”. What is more,it led the U.S. to economic stagnation, high unemployment rate and increased economic inequality, which plunged many from the American middle class into difficulty and turned their beautiful “American Dream ” into a nightmare and myth.
