With rapid development of the Internet and new media technology，China has witnessed tremendous growth of online science popularization in recent years.Online science popularization has contributed a great deal to the improvement of scientific literacy of Chinese citizens.Firstly，this paper portrays new network media like online video，cellphone media，online game，Weibo，digital science and technology museum.Then the paper introduces the role of new network media in science popularization and analyzes existing problems.Finally，the paper puts forward suggestions for the development of online science popularization in the new era.
