Jiyuan，a city of Henan Province，lies in the heartland of Ho Lo Culture. The excellent geographical location，natural environment and long historical culture reward it with rich cultural relics and intangible cultural heritage，such as Shaoyuan Mythology Group，the Legend of Yugong，Ji Water（River） Culture，Taoism Culture and ancient architecture which are all characteristic culture resources with high quality，far-reaching influence and dense existence. These resources need great protection and development because they have important value in constructing the national humanism and core socialist values，and in promoting local economy as well. This article gives an overview on the most characteristic resources of historical culture in Jiyuan，generalizes the necessity to protect，the achievement got by the local government and the challenge they are faced with. Besides，it also promotes suggestions from three aspects.
