This paper is a comprehensive report on and analysis of the latest development of the UK and Ireland from October 2009 to September 2010，covering a range of fields like politics，economy，social situations and foreign relations of the two countries respectively. Although signs of recovery have already been seen in both countries，it is still uncertain whether they can get rid of the economic recession in the near future due to a series of factors both at home and abroad. A coalition government has begun its operation in the UK，which is the first one of this type ever since the Second World War，and which will bring some changes in both domestic and foreign affairs. Owing to the pessimistic economic outlook，the Irish coalition government is facing a series of political and social problems and challenges.
