This report makes a comprehensive comparison between the EU-US and the China-EU bilateral treaties. EU-US bilateral treaties have mainly been concluded under the GATT/WTO and the Transatlantic Agenda. Two thirds of EU-US treaties are related to trade relations. Recently，EU and have reached new agreements in mutule recognition，regulation harmonization，sharing of intelligence and judicial cooperation. The first China-EU bilateral treaty was concluded thirty-five years ago，much later than that between the EU and US. After China’s accession to WTO，EU and China reached some agreements concerning marine matter，custom cooperation and tourism team. Under the context of TTIP between EU and US，EU and China need establish an updated and more stable legal base which should be commensurate with the EU-China Comprehensive Strategy Partnership. Compared with EU-US bilateral treaties，there are great possibilities for EU and China to negotiate new binding agreements，such as those on free trade，visa exemption，anti-terrorism and judicial cooperation.
