Though encountered with severe nature disasters and challenges including safety crisis in Spring Festival transportation，violent fluctuations on production factor prices and impact of international financial crisis，etc.，Guangzhou achieved a steady and healthy economic and social development in 2008.Looking into year 2009，as the influence of international financial crisis getting more severe，it is predicted in this report that Guangzhou’s economic development quality，employment and social stability will face great pressure and challenge，yet a steady and fast economic and social development is to be expected.Guangzhou will experience more harmonious development with the reform on integration of urban and rural areas.Preparation for the Asian Games and competition for National Civilized City will further help to improve living environment，boost social harmony and enhance Guangzhou’s city image and level of civilization.
