Guangzhou’s high-tech industry was affected by the outbreak of financial crisis. In the short run，economic recession in Europe and North America led directly to Guangzhou high-tech exports severely hampered. The situation of attracting investment in Guangzhou is critical，especially for high-tech enterprises to receive venture capital. Consumers’ confidence plunged and the demand of high-tech products was weak. However，in the long run，financial crisis provided historical opportunity for Guangzhou to adjust and improve its industrial structure and for attracting investment，overseas M&A and recruiting international high-end talents，so as to expand the horizon for Guangzhou’s high-tech development. In the following years，Guangzhou should adopt measures for continuing improving innovation climate，transforming the “risk” to “opportunity”，tracking the industry development trends and strengthen the high-tech industry’s capability of resisting risk.
