The Strategic Guidance for the U.S. military priorities in the 21 century, which the Pentagon released on January 5 of 2012,explicitly demonstrates the domestic imperative of fulfilling military budget cut while maintaining the robust and credible military force to secure American global security interests. The Strategic Guidance offers an adequate and original thinking and planning for the U.S.military to follow up in the coming decade, and highlights capability building of the joint operational access against the Area-denial and Anti-access moves, which have been much characterized as China's military preference. In addition, the guidance argues strongly for the higher level of inter-operability and coordination between the U.S.and its allies and security partners. As a result, the strategic guidance will never truncate the U.S.military operations, and instead strengthen the U.S.military capability to gain entry and maintain access if necessary. Thus new military strategy of the Obama Administration will continue to project the U.S.power as requested, rather than weakening it,in the era of fiscal restraint.
