Zhanaozen unrest is the most severe violence occurred in Kazakhstan in recent years. It originated from protracted waves of strikes and was inflamed by domestic and foreign political forces. There are painful and contemplative lessons in the riot. These lessons are: social construction serves the vital problem for transitional countries; attainments in economic construction are likely ruined when social construction is ignored; governments should be on behalf of the interest of the labors by adopting fair and impartial stance in labor disputes; sustainable development and long-run stability depend upon the effectiveness of anti-corruption.
