The political situation in Tajikistan was generally stable in 2011. President Rakhmon continued to maintain a firm grasp of the domestic situations. The president also made frequent adjustments to the leaders of different departments. Some new laws were passed by the Parliament and then were implemented. With the new changes of the situations in Afghanistan, Middle East and North Africa, the Security of Tajikistan was facing severe challenges. The illegal activities of "three forces", transnational organized crimes, and drug smuggling were still active. Influenced by the favorable factors, such as the good harvest of agriculture, especially the high yield of cotton and the substantial growth in exports, economy of the year grew rapidly. Tajikistan continued to implement a comprehensive, balanced, pragmatic and flexible foreign policy, and actively developed diplomatic relations with Russia, China, the neighboring countries, the United States, European Union and other countries.
