The general situation of Guangzhou’s urban construction management and development keeps sound in 2008：public participation in the planning is increasing；land market returns to rational；breakthrough has been made in the reform of urban construction investment and financing institution，urban infrastructure construction has been made solid progress；the pace in housing construction for low income accelerates.However，some problems and challenges are still waiting to be dealt with，such as an abundant of idle land and low efficiency land；urban renewal process goes slowly，the construction of urban sewage treatment system lags behind，and the pollution in waterways is still serious；illegal subcontracting in construction industry remains serious.In 2009，driven by the central government’s expanding domestic demand policy，it is expected that key urban construction projects，including Asian Games projects，transportation networks and projects for people’s well-being will be further invested，urban infrastructure and ecological environment will be further improved，urban renewal be promoted steadily，the scale of housing construction for low income be expanded，real estate market will go steadily and firmly，and the stadiums for Asian Games will be completed on schedule.
