As is known，old city zones are the basic component unit and nuclear region of the cities.With people’s living improvement，the demand on living environment becomes higher，while various problems in human settlements appear increasingly as a result of economy development and population growth，such as dangerous buildings and lagging supporting facilities.Therefore，degree of dissatisfaction on human settlements increases.In this paper，the present situation of the human settlements’ environment of Yuexiu District in Guangzhou city is investigated，which helps understand the existing problems in human settlements of old urban districts.Lastly，this paper puts forward many useful measures to optimize the settlement environment so that improve the human settlements’ environment and quality of life in old city zones.
