2008年，广州市精神文明建设工作紧紧围绕市委、市政府的中心工作，以构建社会主义核心价值体系为根本，以创建全国文明城市为龙头，积极开展精神文明创建活动，广州市创建全国文明城市工作取得了阶段性成果，“文化进社区”经验在全国推广，获得首批“全国未成年人思想道德建设工作先进城市”称号。
<<In 2008，the spiritual civilization construction in Guangzhou was vigorously carried out centered on city key，based on constructing socialism core values system and aiming at creating a national civilized city. The work has gained phase achievement：experience of Culture into Community is being promoted nationwide and Guangzhou was among the first to win the title of “City of Advanced Juvenile Mental and Moral Construction”.
