The Soviet Pattern is the system and mechanism formed in the long-lasting Soviet socialist practice，and the guideline and policy of the building of socialism. We should have a scientific attitude to the Soviet Pattern. The basic socialist system which is the embodiment of cardinal principles of scientific socialism and the essential content of the Soviet Pattern must be affirmed，and the concrete systems and mechanisms which are the realizing methods of scientific socialist cardinal principles must be based on concrete analysis. There is not a certain and inevitable relation between the Soviet Pattern and the Soviet Evolution. The essential characters of scientific socialism are the same，but the realizing methods of cardinal principles are different between the Chinese characteristic socialism and the Soviet Pattern. The Soviet Evolution is a peaceful restoration of the capitalist system in essence. It neither means the failure of socialism nor changes the general trend of historical development of the mankind. Socialism needs reform，but the reform must adhere to the basic principles of Marxism with no vacillation，which is the radical historical lesson drawn from the Soviet Evolution.
