The Marikana Strike and the 53^rd National Conference of the ruling ANC dominate the development of South African political economy in 2012. To some extent，they are the natural outcome of the economic and social development since the birth of New South Africa，and reflect the old and new contradictions and conflicts in South African society and ANC. The two events will have a deep impact in South Africa’s future development，and the extent has yet to be seen.
