Sudden serious natural disasters often cause great damage due to their enormous destruction. The snow storm and frozen rain in low temperature occurring in the south of China in early 2008，as well as the deadly May 12th Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan caused great damage to the lives and properties，and it became one of the most important tasks of disaster belief to guarantee food provision and food safety of earthquake victims. This article is to mainly analyze the problems of centralized food provision，potable water，food chain，short-term food structural changes during the serious natural disasters，and also the short-board effect in respect of the response mechanism；and provide 4 suggestions in ensuring food safety response of serious natural disasters，based on the experience in these 2 disasters.
