ID cards play a positive role in facilitating citizens’ social activities，enhancing the government’s capability of regulating residence affairs，and achieving the goal of public security.However，the harm to individual rights caused by the abusing of ID cards in practice deserves much attention.This report examines the provisions on the use of ID cards in the relevant laws，explores the status quo of the use of Chinese ID cards as well as the problems existing in Chinese personal data protection system，and puts forward some proposals on the improvement of the regulations on the use of Chinese ID cards.
